Cooperatives and the Defense of the Planet
The Conference Room Jardines at the Hotel Panamericano in the city of Buenos Aires, was the stage where members of the cooperative movement participated in the panel dedicated to the sustainable management of natural resources.
On October 23, the date of the first meeting of the V Cooperative Summit of the Americas, in the Jardines Conference Room of the Hotel Panamericano in the city of Buenos Aires, the Workshop Theme 1, “Cooperatives and the Defense of the Plant” took place.
Many representatives associated with the solidarity economy movement participated in the panel dedicated to the sustainable management of natural resources, which began with a presentation by Daniel Salerno, director of Cooperatives of the Americas.
Once the panel had been inaugurated, Enrique Luis Moreno, the representative of the Argentine Worker Cooperative, shared his experience in the field regarding consumption and environmental care, as well as the different measures adopted during recent months in order to capture the attention of consumers and potential clients.
Thereafter, Ricardo Airasca, representative of the Electric Cooperatives Federation of Argentina (FACE, for its acronym in Spanish), gave details about the policies adopted in 2018 on renewable energy and cooperatives. The Armstrong Cooperative from the Province of Santa Fe was highlighted as an entity that produces its own energy through solar panels from its photovoltaic plant.
Finally, Gabriel Isola and Amelia Moro Cabañas, representatives from Uruguay and Paraguay, respectively, explained the experiences obtained during the National Meetings carried out in their respective countries regarding the topics covered in this panel.
