Launch of the Cooperatives of the Americas Platform for Development PCAD

On October 24, within the framework of the V Cooperative Summit of the Americas, the constitution act for the Cooperatives of the Americas Platform for Development (PCAD, for its acronym in Spanish) was signed, as an operative instrument, creating an open space for dialogue between the cooperative organizations of the Americas and the main actors in international cooperation and sustainable development worldwide.

Cooperatives in development: companies focused on people, on action, is a joint project between the Alliance (the central office and its 4 regional offices) and the European Commission that seeks to promote and give visibility to cooperatives in favor of international development. Within the framework of this alliance, we carry out actions in research, capacity development, we strengthen networking among our members, different actors of civil society and international organizations. Through international cooperation actions of regional and global impact, we promote the cooperative model as a key agent of development towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations.

Considering that the execution of the project began in 2016 and considering that work axis No. 4 of the project presents the following statement: "Improvement of the activities of active cooperative networks in regional and global development", which translates into a purpose to improve dialogue between the actors of cooperative development of the Cooperative Alliance network on a global scale. Informing with satisfaction that the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in its Sustainable Development Goal -SDG number 17- "Alliance to achieve goals" recognizes the strategic value of alliances and international cooperation for the achievement of the SDGs.

On October 24, within the framework of the V Cooperative Summit of the Americas, the constitution act for the Cooperatives of the Americas Platform for Development (PCAD, for its acronym in Spanish) was signed, as an operative instrument, creating an open space for dialogue between the cooperative organizations of the Americas and the main actors in international cooperation and sustainable development worldwide. The signatory organizations members of the "Cooperatives of the Americas Platform for Development PCAD" from 7 Latin American countries included: FEDECACES El Salvador, CONFECOOP and ASCOOP from Colombia, CONACOOP and INFOCOOP from Costa Rica, COOPERAR Argentina, CONPACOOP Paraguay, CONFECOOP Colombia, CUDECOOP Uruguay and CONFECOOPP Guatemala. The platform will have 2 Permanent Guests, the representatives of NCBA-CLUSA and Cooperatives and Mutuals Canada signed the declaration and committed to providing expertise. Likewise, during the official ceremony, representatives of: WeEffect (Sweden), DGRV (Germany) and the Fundacion Escuela Andaluza de Economía Social (Spain) adhered to the platform as permanent observers.

This signing ceremony was attended by the highest authority of the European Union in Argentina, Ambassador Aude-Maio Coliche, as a witness of honor who served as a support for the internationalization process that will be enhanced from this platform.
