Positioning the regional cooperative movement as a key actor in international cooperation
In Costa Rica, the Group of National Project Officers (GONP) was created, integrated by 13 representatives of member organizations from 11 countries from the Americas. This group was created within the framework the project "Cooperatives for Development" co-financed by the European Union.
The creation of this Group of National Project Officers (GONP) seeks to improve the positioning of the cooperative movement as an agent of international cooperation through capacity building of cooperative organizations in formulation and project management of international cooperation projects.
The GONP emerged from the different exchanges made by the 13 representatives, the regional officers of the project "Cooperatives for Development", the Regional Director and the President of Cooperatives of the Americas, in the framework of the workshop "Formulation and project management financed by the European Union and strategic commitment with the European Union "directed by FINEP, which was held between September 4 and 7, 2018 in San José, Costa Rica.
As a result, a first group calendar was established, the actions of the GONP aim to position the cooperative sector as the main actor in international cooperation.
During the next V Cooperative Summit of the Americas to be held in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, from October 23 to 26, within the framework of the activity event COOPERATIVE DEVELOPMENT PLATFORM, the GONP will meet to work on specific projects ideas that will promote the impact of the cooperative sectors in international cooperation processes.
