Top American cooperatives will meet in Chile

Between August 9 and 11, the 68th Meeting of the Board of Directors of Cooperatives of the Americas will be held. The event includes several seminars.

With the participation of the most important representatives of cooperatives from all over the continent, the 68th Meeting of the Board of Directors of Cooperatives of the Americas will take place between August 9 and 11 in Chile. Cooperativa de las Américas are the regional representation of the International Cooperative Alliance and integrate the main cooperative enterprises of the region.

This will be the second time this event will be held in Chile. It will be attended by about one hundred cooperatives from 22 countries such as the United States, Canada, Brazil, Costa Rica and Argentina, among others, and will be organized by the main cooperative of savings and credit of the country and Latin America, Coopeuch, together with Conavicoop, an open housing cooperative in Chile, with more than 40 years of experience in the sector.

The meeting will begin on August 9, at 08:30 hours, with a series of seminars that will be held in parallel, with topics related to the continent’s economic situation, digital transformation, youth social innovation, work and Gender Equity, addressing the local reality and the experience of cooperatives in the world. Among the speakers, the Superintendent of Banks and Financial Institutions (SBIF), Eric Parrado, who will refer to gender equity in the system financial. Also will participate the undersecretary of Economy, Natalia Piergentili; The director of the Innovation Center Anacleto Angelini UC, Conrad von Igel, and the executives of strategic consultant Mc Kinsey, Marco Cauduro and Alberto Vignau, among other exhibitors.

The president of Coopeuch, Syria Jeldes, appreciated the realization of this meeting, assuring that "we are very happy to be able to welcome the maximum representatives of the main cooperatives of the continent. This meeting will serve to address various issues important for the development of Chile and the continent in general, along with showing the cooperative model as an inclusive alternative for the whole country.

Meanwhile, Conavicoop’s president, Juan Pablo Román, stressed that "the opportunity to analyze the development of cooperative companies in the continent will allow the evaluation of the possibilities of expanding their activities, exchanging experiences, improving the living conditions of their partners ". Coopeuch’s General Manager, Rodrigo Silva, emphasized the importance of this type of initiative because they are releasing the cooperative model in Chile.

The meeting of the Board of Directors of Cooperatives of the Americas will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel, located at Avenida Vitacura 2727. Along with the seminars, the meeting of its board of directors is also contemplated, as well as other sessions that seek to spread and develop The cooperative model in different latitudes of the continent.
